Who runs this site

TopInsight is written by Charles Lin, a pen name for a working engineer based in Taiwan. The pseudonym is documented and intentional — see the disclosures page for why it exists and what it guarantees about editorial independence.

What we cover

• AI coding tools — Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Aider, Continue, Cline, and the rest.
• LLM platforms — API providers, model lineups, pricing analysis.
• Dev infrastructure — Cloudflare, Vercel, Fly.io, Railway, Render.
• Databases — Neon, Turso, PlanetScale, Supabase, D1, Mongo Atlas.
• Dev productivity — Linear, Notion, Raycast, Arc, 1Password, Tailscale.
• Storage & homelab — ZFS, Proxmox, TrueNAS, Unraid, homelab networking, drive selection, backup.

What we don't do

• Listicle filler. If we publish a "Best X" piece, we have used most of the contenders or read every review of the ones we haven't.
• Vendor talking points. Press releases are inputs, not outputs.
• Single-source aggregation. Every piece references at least three independent sources, plus firsthand experience where we have it.
• Cover the author's employer. See disclosures.
